AP CEO reviews SIR progress, announces special campaign days
Amaravati, Aug 13 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav on Thursday reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and claims and objections across the state and directed officials to expedite the process in accordance with Election Commission of India guidelines.
The CEO, along with Additional Chief Electoral Officer S Dilli Rao, held a video conference with District Collectors and District Election Officers, Additional DEOs and Deputy DEOs from the CEO’s office at the AP Secretariat.
The review covered generation and delivery of notices to electors who were not mapped or had discrepancies in mapping, disposal of SIR hearings, claims and objections, pending ‘Book a Call with BLOs’ requests and complaints received through the National Grievance Service Portal.
Mr Yadav instructed districts to accelerate hearings and streamline disposal of claims and objections while strictly adhering to ECI guidelines.
He announced that Special Campaign Days would be held on August 22, 23, 29 and 30 at all polling stations across Andhra Pradesh to facilitate voters.
Booth Level Officers (BLOs), along with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of political parties, will be physically present at polling stations on the designated days to assist citizens with voter-roll verification, forms and related guidance.
The CEO directed officials to ensure that electoral registration processes and disposal of forms are carried out thoroughly and transparently and in accordance with statutory guidelines.
He also asked District Election Officers to undertake wide publicity to encourage enrolment of young voters aged 18-19 years and organise enrolment camps in colleges and educational institutions.
