Telangana Govt ready to collaborate with Army for recruitment training: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Aug 12 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the State government was ready to collaborate with the Indian Army to encourage youth to participate in Army recruitment drives and appealed to the Army to establish training centres at district headquarters.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Command, Lieutenant General C Rajesh Pushkar, met the Chief Minister here and discussed various issues, including Army recruitment and disaster management.

Revanth Reddy suggested that the Army organise training programmes at identified district headquarters to create awareness among local youth about recruitment opportunities and help them prepare for the selection process.

Responding positively to the Chief Minister’s request, Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar expressed readiness to establish training centres for youth at various district headquarters ahead of nationwide Army recruitment drives.

The Chief Minister also urged the Army to play a proactive role in disaster management, particularly in rescue operations, evacuation of people to safer locations and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected areas.

Lt Gen Rajesh Pushkar assured the Chief Minister that he would instruct local Army authorities to take special initiatives during disaster situations in Telangana.

During the meeting, the Army commander also appreciated the State government’s Musi River rejuvenation project and said its implementation was important to protect Hyderabad from pollution and restore the city’s historical character.

Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Major General Srinivas Rao and other senior Army officials were present at the meeting.
