Tirupati, May 1 (TNT): A total of 190 poor patients were selected for free surgeries under the Pranadanam scheme at the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) here on Thursday.
The selection was finalized at a committee meeting held at 3:00 PM in the Director’s Office, chaired by SVIMS Director and Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.V. Kumar.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Ram, along with doctors from BIRRD, Ruia, and Maternity hospitals, department heads, and staff, participated in the meeting.
Patients were chosen based on their health condition and economic status, with priority given to those living below the poverty line and holding ration cards, the Medical Superintendent said in a release..
The selected cases include Nephrology (73), Neurosurgery (40), Cardiothoracic (17), Surgical Gastroenterology (18), Medicine (15), General Surgery (9), Neurology (6), Gynecology (6), Surgical Oncology (3), Cardiology (2), and Urology (1).
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) for extending financial assistance for free treatment under the scheme.
They also appealed to donors and organizations to contribute generously to support the initiative.
