Visakhapatnam, Mar 21 (TNT): The Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway has initiated a series of measures to manage increased passenger traffic and ensure safety and comfort during the summer season.
Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra chaired a review meeting with officials and directed the implementation of comprehensive arrangements across major stations in the division.
Key measures include ensuring adequate supply of packaged and potable drinking water at stations, with special focus on major hubs such as Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Road, Duvvada, Rayagada, Koraput and Jagdalpur.
Free drinking water facilities have been arranged, particularly for passengers travelling in general coaches, with Civil Defence personnel and Scouts & Guides deployed for distribution. The division is also coordinating with NGOs for voluntary support.
Officials said efforts are being made to ensure continuous water supply in station toilets and waiting halls, along with timely announcements of train arrivals and departures.
Queue management systems and designated holding areas have been ఏర్పాటు to streamline boarding and alighting during peak hours, while special attention is being given to crowd movement on foot overbridges and concourse areas.
To assess preparedness, a mock drill involving multiple departments, including RPF, GRP, Civil Defence and other wings, was conducted at Visakhapatnam station.
The division appealed to passengers to cooperate with railway staff and follow guidelines to ensure safe and hassle-free travel during the summer rush.
