VHP Alleges Restrictions on Shivaji Jayanti Celebrations in Telangana

Hyderabad, Feb 18 (TNT): The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday alleged that the Telangana government and police were attempting to impose “undeclared restrictions” on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti celebrations scheduled for February 19.

In a statement, the organisation claimed that authorities were citing the commencement of Ramzan as a reason for restricting public celebrations in certain areas.

The VHP said any restrictions on Shivaji Jayanti celebrations would not be tolerated and called upon Hindu youth to celebrate the occasion “in a grand manner.”

Questioning the government’s approach, the organisation asked why exemptions were allegedly being granted for Ramzan and not for Hindu festivals, and why government orders were being issued in this regard.

There was no immediate response from the Telangana government or police authorities to the allegations, the VHP added.
