UoH, Census Directorate Ink MoU to Set Up Advanced Micro-Data Research Facility

hyderabad, Mar 23 (TNT): University of Hyderabad (UoH) and the Directorate of Census (DOC) Operations Telangana on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a dedicated workstation for research on census sample micro-data at the university’s School of Economics.

The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to strengthen data-driven research and policy analysis by providing secure access to anonymized, record-level census data for qualified researchers, the University said in a release here.

The facility will enable in-depth demographic studies, customised socio-economic analysis and advanced statistical modelling to support regional and national policy formulation.

A joint steering committee comprising representatives from both institutions will oversee research approvals to ensure high-quality academic output.

The workstation, housed in a 1,000 sq. ft. air-conditioned space on the university’s East Campus, is equipped with high-end computing systems, dedicated servers and statistical software such as SPSS and STATA, along with stringent data security protocols.

The MoU exchange took place in the presence of senior officials including DOC Director Bharati Hollikeri, Deputy Registrar General R. Gyanashekar and university representatives led by Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) Prof. J. Anuradha.

Officials said the facility will be open not only to university scholars but also to external researchers, marking a significant step in expanding access to national datasets and promoting evidence-based research.
