Visakhapatnam, Mar 4 (TNT): Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat on Wednesday said ensuring uninterrupted and quality power supply to consumers remains a top priority of the coalition government and directed officials to curb power losses and theft while improving service delivery.
Chairing the District Electricity Committee meeting at the Collectorate, Sribharat reviewed electricity expansion and development works across the district.
Officials informed that measures are being taken to provide continuous power supply across 11 mandals under four zones and to strengthen grievance redressal mechanisms.
Sribharat called for wider outreach of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to ensure eligible households benefit from rooftop solar subsidies.
He also urged officials to promote the PM-KUSUM scheme to boost solar power adoption in the agriculture sector.
The MP reviewed underground cabling works, EHT and 33/11 KV substations, additional transformers, feeder stations and infrastructure projects, directing officials to expedite completion within stipulated timelines.
He also stressed effective implementation of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to reduce transmission and distribution losses and strengthen power infrastructure.
Senior power department officials attended the meeting.
