UBS opens new office in Hyderabad to scale-Up in India Operations

Hyderabad, Feb 11 (TNT): UBS, the world’s largest wealth manager and Switzerland’s leading universal bank, has strengthened its India growth strategy with the opening of a new office at Centaurus by Phoenix in Gachibowli in the city on Wednesday.

The move underscores UBS’s long-term bet on Hyderabad as a strategic global capability and technology hub, the Bank said in a release.

The new facility marks the next phase of UBS’s expansion in the city, where it began operations in 2020.

With the latest addition, the bank plans to hire 2,000–3,000 professionals in the coming months, effectively doubling its workforce in Hyderabad.

The expansion aligns with UBS’s broader push to scale technology, operations, and emerging capabilities such as artificial intelligence from India.

Telangana Minister for IT and Industries D Sridhar Babu , who attended the event, said UBS’s expansion reflects growing global confidence in the state’s business ecosystem.

He noted that the bank’s presence strengthens Hyderabad’s role in global innovation while deepening economic linkages between India and Switzerland.

From a business perspective, Hyderabad’s deep talent pool, supportive policy environment, and mature infrastructure continue to attract multinational financial institutions seeking cost-efficient, high-value operations.

UBS already operates from Pune (Kharadi), Navi Mumbai (Airoli), and Hyderabad, positioning India as a critical node in its global delivery model.

Matthias Schacke, Head India Service Company and Group Operations & Technology Office India, said Hyderabad will remain a key growth location as UBS expands advanced tech capabilities and scales operations. State officials added that the new office will accelerate high-end skill creation and enhance cross-border collaboration in financial services and technology.

The expansion also aligns with the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) between India and Switzerland, which aims to boost investment, trade, and job creation.
