Hyderabad, Apr 8 (TNT): Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) , Telangana, arrested an Inspector and a Sub-Inspector attached to the RGI Airport Police Outpost, Hyderabad Commissionerate, for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe in connection with a criminal case.
According to an ACB press release issued on Wednesday, U.K. Siddeshwar, Sub-Inspector of Police, and Sampathi Kanakaiah, Inspector of Police, were caught by the ACB’s Ranga Reddy Range unit on Tuesday after they allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh and accepted Rs 2 lakh as part payment from a complainant.
The accused officers allegedly sought the bribe for filing a charge sheet and not involving or arresting the complainant’s family members in a case registered at RGI Airport Police Station, Shamshabad.
The ACB said the officers had performed their duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
During searches conducted at the residence of Inspector Sampathi Kanakaiah, officials seized cash amounting to Rs 33.97 lakh.
Property-related documents were also recovered and are being examined, the bureau said.
Both officers were arrested and produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The case is under investigation.
The ACB urged the public to report instances of bribery by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064.
