TTD JEO Calls for Developing Srinivasa Ayurveda Pharmacy into Model Laboratory

Tirupati, Mar 23 (TNT): TTD Joint Executive Officer (Medical & Education) Dr. A. Sharath on Monday directed officials to develop the Srinivasa Ayurveda Pharmacy into a model laboratory by strengthening in-house cultivation of medicinal plants and reducing dependence on external sources.

During his visit to the pharmacy at Narasingapuram near Srinivasa Mangapuram, he reviewed the facilities and ongoing operations.

Noting that the pharmacy is spread over 19 acres, he suggested establishing a comprehensive herbal medicine plant within the premises.

He instructed officials to prepare a detailed report on medicines required for various diseases, the plants needed for their preparation, available resources, and those currently being procured from outside.

Emphasising self-reliance, the JEO said medicinal plants should be cultivated within the pharmacy land in a planned manner to ensure the availability of quality raw materials and minimise external procurement.

He also directed that the entire land be fully utilised and developed into a herbal medicine hub, functioning like a laboratory with systematic cultivation of essential plant parts such as leaves, roots, and bark.

Dr. Sharath further instructed officials to compile data on plants currently being cultivated and those sourced externally, and to prepare a plan to reduce outside dependency.

Later, he inspected the products being manufactured and the functioning of machinery at the pharmacy and offered several suggestions.

AP Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Board CEO A. Chandrasekhar, Pharmacy In-charge Dr. Renu Dixit, SE Narasimha Murthy, DE Damodar, and other officials were present.
