Tirumala-Style Norms to Be Enforced at Temples; Basara Development to Follow Traditions: CM

Hyderabad, Apr 4 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday directed officials to enforce Tirumala-style regulations around major temple premises in the state, stressing that spirituality must be prioritised and political activities barred.

He said no political meetings, flags or demonstrations should be allowed in temple areas, on the lines of Tirumala, to preserve sanctity.

Reviewing the development of the Gnana Saraswati Temple at Basara in Nirmal District, the Chief Minister examined the ₹225 crore master plan presented by officials.

He suggested several modifications and directed that all development works be undertaken in accordance with traditions and religious scriptures, giving utmost importance to devotees’ sentiments.

Keeping future requirements and increasing pilgrim footfall in view, he instructed officials to construct wider roads and develop green spaces by planting suitable saplings.

Reddy also proposed establishing a health centre near the temple to cater to devotees, especially during major events such as Pushkarams, with adequate medical staff and facilities.

He directed that vehicles, including those of VIPs, be stopped outside the temple premises and only electric vehicles be permitted within. He also suggested installing solar rooftops in parking areas.

The Chief Minister stressed that the sanctity of the temple must not be disturbed during development works and warned that any compromise in construction quality would not be tolerated.

The meeting was attended by Minister Konda Surekha, Government Advisor Sudarshan Reddy, MP Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, CM’s Principal Secretary Srinivasa Raju, Endowments Department Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramaiyer, Commissioner Hanumantha Rao and other officials.
