TGREDCO, GGGI Sign MoU to Boost Energy Efficiency Under SMARTEE-B Initiative

Hyderabad, Mar 24 (TNT): Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation Ltd. (TGREDCO) and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI)-India on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in energy efficiency, conservation and renewable energy in the state.

The MoU was signed by TGREDCO Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director Anila Vavilla and GGGI India Country Representative Soumya Prasad Garnaik in the presence of Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal.

The partnership is aligned with the “Sustaining & Promoting Market Transformation for Energy Efficiency in Buildings in India (SMARTEE-B)” initiative, aimed at accelerating energy efficiency in the building sector through innovative business and financing models.

Under the agreement, both organisations will collaborate on programmes across key areas including demand-side management, sustainable cooling, energy-efficient buildings, green small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and e-mobility.

The collaboration will also focus on developing bankable project pipelines, enabling innovative financing mechanisms such as ESCO models, and strengthening institutional capacity through training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Officials said the partnership would leverage GGGI’s global expertise and technical support to help Telangana transition towards a low-carbon, energy-efficient growth pathway in line with national priorities and global climate commitments.

They added that the initiative would strengthen policy frameworks, promote adoption of energy-efficient technologies in buildings and create opportunities for green investments and employment in the state.

The MoU also facilitates access to global best practices and technical assistance in the energy sector, reinforcing Telangana’s commitment to sustainable development and climate action.
