Hyderabad, Feb 3 (TNT): The Telangana Government on Tuesday signalled an aggressive push towards regulatory simplification and ease of doing business, following a high-level meeting on compliance reduction and deregulation held at the Secretariat.
Chaired by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and attended by Sukruti Lekhi, Secretary, Government of India, the meeting reviewed the State’s progress under Phase-I of the reform programme.
Officials from the Centre praised the State’s performance, terming it commendable, and expressed confidence that similar outcomes would be achieved in Phase-II.
Phase-II of the initiative will focus on 23 priority areas and five optional priority areas, aimed at reducing regulatory burden, streamlining procedures, and improving governance efficiency for businesses and citizens alike.
Reaffirming the State’s commitment, the Chief Secretary assured that all prescribed targets would be met well ahead of timelines.
He instructed departments to expedite the drafting of necessary legislations and policy changes, directing that these be taken up during the forthcoming Budget Session of the Legislature to ensure swift implementation.
The discussions highlighted the State Government’s resolve to align closely with national reform priorities, strengthen institutional mechanisms, and create a more predictable and investor-friendly regulatory environment.
Senior officials from Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Industries & Commerce, Forest, Revenue, Agriculture, and other key departments participated in the meeting.
