Telangana Sets Record in Power Consumption, Supplies 341 Million Units in a Day

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (TNT): Telangana power utilities created history by supplying the highest-ever electricity in a single day, delivering 341.08 million units (MU) of power on March 13, 2026.

The state also successfully met a peak power demand of 18,228 MW at 11:17 a.m. on the same day, setting another record.

According to officials, the latest figures surpassed the previous high of 335.19 million units recorded on March 18, 2025.

The new peak demand also exceeded the earlier record of 17,162 MW logged on March 20, 2025.

Officials attributed the surge in electricity consumption to rising temperatures and increased agricultural power usage across the state.

Power department officials said the utilities are strengthening infrastructure and operational planning to meet growing demand in the coming months.

Telangana is preparing to handle daily energy requirements exceeding 350 million units and peak loads of around 19,000 MW, they said.

With a robust power grid and coordinated operational systems, the state is confident of managing future electricity needs efficiently.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday congratulated employees of all power utilities for ensuring uninterrupted power supply during the period of high demand.

He appreciated their efforts in maintaining stable operations while meeting record consumption levels across the state.
