
Hyderabad, Feb 24 (TNT): The Telangana Prisons and Correctional Services Department organised a Salary Package Mela at the SICA campus here on Tuesday to provide enhanced banking and financial security benefits to prison personnel across the State.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dr. Soumya Mishra, IPS, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, stated that prison personnel work under challenging and demanding conditions, ensuring security, discipline, and rehabilitation within correctional institutions.
She emphasized that it is the Department’s responsibility to provide structured banking facilities and financial security to its workforce.
A total of 1,332 prison personnel are being covered under the Police Salary Package, which includes accident and life insurance, overdraft facility, personal and education loans with waived charges, health check-ups, medical and lifestyle benefits, and concessions on locker facilities.
The department has appointed liaison officers for each participating bank to assist staff with account services, documentation, and awareness of benefits, ensuring smooth implementation of the scheme, she said.
As part of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, she said the State Bank of India and Canara Bank handed over battery-operated vehicles to the department for use by elderly and sick inmates.
In a related development, the State Bank of India agreed to extend the State Government Salary Package to eligible employees of the Commissioner of Printing and Stationery office, where most salary accounts are maintained with the bank, she said the process has been initiated to ensure that all eligible employees receive the applicable benefits and entitlements under the package.
The event was attended by N. Murali Babu, IG Prisons; Dr. D. Srinivas, DIG, Hyderabad Range; M. Sampath, DIG, Warangal Range; N. Shiva Kumar Goud, Superintendent, Central Prison Hyderabad; G Pramod, Superintendent, Central Prison Cherlapalli, S. Srinivasa Reddy, Principal, SICA; K. Sriman Reddy, DS Jails; along with other senior officers and staff members from all jails.
Senior representatives from leading banks such as State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Union Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and HDFC Bank also participated in the event.
