Hyderabad, Mar 20 (TNT):Telangana has emerged as a strong growth engine for the country, recording a growth rate 2.6 percentage points higher than the national average, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said on Friday.
Presenting the budget in the Assembly, he said the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) contributes about 5 per cent to the national GDP, reflecting its growing economic strength.
Bhatti noted that while India’s GDP growth rate declined from 9.8 per cent in 2024–25 to 8 per cent in 2025–26 at current prices, Telangana’s GSDP growth rate increased from 10.6 per cent to 10.7 per cent during the same period.
He said the sustained growth indicates that the policies being implemented by the state government are yielding positive results and driving development.
Highlighting income levels, the Deputy Chief Minister said Telangana’s per capita income rose to ₹4,18,931 in 2025–26, registering a growth rate of 10.2 per cent. In comparison, the national per capita income stood at ₹2,19,575, with a growth rate of 6.9 per cent.
“Telangana’s per capita income is higher by ₹1,99,356 compared to the national average, making it nearly 1.9 times higher,” he said.
Outlining the state’s long-term economic vision, Bhatti said the government aims to transform Telangana’s economy from the current $200 billion to a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and further to $3 trillion by 2047. Sector-wise plans are being prepared to achieve these targets.
Alleging lapses by the previous BRS government, he said funds received under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) between 2014 and 2023 were not fully utilised and were diverted, leading to stoppage of subsequent instalments from the Centre.
He said the present government has addressed the issue by releasing nearly ₹3,000 crore during the current financial year towards pending CSS funds from 2014–15 to 2023–24.
Bhatti added that while maintaining cordial relations with the Centre, the state has secured ₹7,072 crore so far in the current financial year under CSS, compared to ₹4,826 crore received in 2021–22 during the previous government’s tenure.
