
Hyderabad, Feb 26 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday announced that 100 Telangana Public Schools will be established across Assembly constituencies in the state, outside Hyderabad, from the coming academic year as a pilot initiative aimed at strengthening quality education in government institutions.
The CM said the proposed schools will be developed on the lines of the Telangana Public School at Arutla in Rangareddy district, with modern classrooms, sports facilities, qualified teaching staff and transport facilities for students.
Reviewing the Education Department at the Command Control Centre here, the Chief Minister directed officials to upgrade government schools under the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) initiative with corporate-level infrastructure and complete the construction of 12 integrated schools within one year.
He also instructed officials to ensure facilities comparable to reputed institutions such as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Jubilee Hills Public School in integrated government schools.
Emphasising the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Chief Minister ordered immediate steps to introduce AI education from the school level and conduct short-term AI training programmes for teachers and lecturers.
He also directed that outdated courses in polytechnics and Advanced Training Centres be replaced with AI-based and industry-relevant programmes to improve employment opportunities for students.
The government is also planning to introduce a breakfast scheme for students from the 2026–27 academic year, along with milk supply sourced from Vijaya Dairy.
Students will be provided with complete education kits, including uniforms, books, bags, footwear and stationery, with adequate funding support from the state, he said.
In higher education, the Chief Minister directed officials to submit detailed reports on financial requirements of universities, noting that ₹1,000 crore has already been allocated to Osmania University.
On regulation of private school fees, the Chief Minister said a state-level committee headed by a retired judge or retired Chief Secretary will be constituted to finalise fee structures after obtaining reports from district authorities and public feedback.
The Telangana Education Commission also submitted its education policy report to the Chief Minister, who entrusted government advisor Dr. K. Kesava Rao with preparing an implementation roadmap and legislative framework based on its recommendations.
Officials from the Education Department, Higher Education Council, universities and members of the Education Commission attended the review meeting.
