Telangana Governor Unveils Dr Moturi Satyanarayana Statue, Hails His Contribution to Hindi Promotion

Hyderabad, Apr 8 (TNT) : Telangana Governor  Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday unveiled the statue of the late Dr. Moturi Satyanarayana, founder of the Central Institute of Hindi, here, describing him as a visionary freedom fighter who dedicated his life to national integration and the spread of Hindi in South India.

Speaking after paying tributes to Padma Bhushan awardee Dr Moturi and releasing his biography along with the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan quarterly magazine Samnvaya Dakshini at a programme held at the Central Institute of Hindi in Bapuji Nagar, Bowenpally, Secunderabad, the Governor said Dr. Moturi viewed language as a powerful instrument for unity and nation-building and worked tirelessly to promote linguistic harmony across the country.

He said that though a Telugu, Dr. Moturi Satyanarayana chose Hindi as a language that could unite people and be understood by all.

He went to North India to propagate the language and played a pioneering role in establishing the Central Hindi Sansthan in Agra, thereby strengthening efforts to promote Hindi across regions.

He said it was a matter of pride and honour to commemorate a personality who devoted himself to the freedom struggle and to promoting Hindi as a medium of national consciousness.

He noted that Dr. Moturi Satyanarayana’s efforts to popularise Hindi and awaken national sentiment led to his imprisonment, but his determination never wavered.

The Governor observed that Dr. Moturi Satyanarayana firmly believed the spread of Hindi would strengthen national unity while respecting India’s linguistic diversity.

In the Constituent Assembly of india, he played a significant role in promoting Indian languages and in establishing Hindi as the official language, he added.

Highlighting his institutional contributions, Shukla said Dr. Moturi Satyanarayana translated his vision into reality by establishing the Central Hindi Teaching Board, which continues to lead efforts for the promotion of Hindi.

He described the unveiling of the statue and release of publications as not merely ceremonial, but a tribute to ideals of linguistic harmony, national consciousness and cultural unity.

He further noted that Dr. Moturi Satyanarayana did not impose Hindi on anyone but promoted it as a medium of communication and coordination, fostering mutual respect among languages in a multilingual country like India.

His life, the Governor said, demonstrated that dedication, foresight and sustained effort could provide new direction to national awakening.

Calling upon people to draw inspiration from Dr. Moturi Satyanarayana’s ideals, Shukla said language service was a powerful form of national service and the memorial would inspire future generations to work for national unity, culture and linguistic harmony.
