Hyderabad, Mar 19 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday evening said the Telugu film industry has grown to international standards, producing meaningful and socially impactful cinema that contributes to societal change.
Addressing the Gaddar Film Awards function here, Bhatti said legendary balladeer Gaddar symbolised the spirit of Telangana and that instituting awards in his name reflects the government’s vision to showcase that legacy globally.
He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy revived the film awards with the objective of positioning Telugu cinema as a global benchmark, noting that such awards were not presented for nearly a decade during the previous government.
The Deputy Chief Minister thanked leading actors and industry members for attending the event despite their busy schedules.
He also congratulated the Film Development Council and jury members for the transparent selection of films highlighting social issues.
