Hyderabad, Apr 8 (TNT): Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivdhar Reddy has iissued a stern warning to police personnel across the state, stating that “uniform and corruption cannot go together” and that strict action would be taken against those indulging in illegal activities.
In a letter addressed to police personnel soon after assuming office, the DGP said officers from Home Guards to IPS officials must work with integrity and transparency and ensure justice to poor and weaker sections visiting police stations, a release from DGP office said here on Wednesday.
He directed police personnel to act with sympathy towards the public, avoid converting police stations into centres for civil settlements and maintain discipline at all levels.
Despite the DGP’s strict directives, repeated raids by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have revealed continued instances of corruption among police personnel in different parts of the state.
Under the supervision of ACB Director General Charu Sinha, the anti-graft agency has intensified action against corruption statewide.
