Telangana CM Slams BJP Over Delay in Kaleshwaram CBI Probe, Alleges BRS–BJP Collusion

Hyderabad, Mar 29 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the delay in ordering a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project, alleging collusion between the BJP and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)

Speaking in the Assembly, Revanth Reddy said the state government had written to the Centre nearly a year ago seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged Kaleshwaram scam but had received no response.

He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had publicly alleged that funds in the project were siphoned off by the KCR family.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy had also stated that a CBI probe could be ordered if the state sought it, he added.

“Anticipating a prompt response, we wrote to the Centre requesting a CBI probe into the Kaleshwaram project, but there has been no official reply so far,” the Chief Minister said.

Alleging a nexus, Revanth Reddy said the BJP and BRS had colluded in the issue, claiming there was a quid pro quo in which BRS transferred its vote bank to the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana.

He said BJP leaders should offer suggestions only after the arrest of K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and T. Harish Rao.

The Chief Minister also accused Mahesh Rao, brother of Harish Rao, of threatening private industry owners and encroaching upon hundreds of acres of land using the Dharani portal in Balanagar area of Mahabubnagar district.

He said the government was ready to constitute a House Committee to investigate the alleged land encroachments if BRS leaders, including K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) and Venkatarami Reddy, agreed.

Reiterating the government’s stand, the Chief Minister said it remained committed to a thorough probe into all allegations related to the project and land issues.
