Siddipet, Mar 22 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday inaugurated a newly constructed modern District Jail at Ensanpalli village in Siddipet, strengthening the state’s correctional infrastructure.
The facility, developed by upgrading the existing sub-jail into a full-fledged district jail, has been built over 32 acres with modern infrastructure, enhanced security systems and integrated rehabilitation facilities.
The jail has an authorised capacity of 415 inmates, including a dedicated barrack for 50 women, and is aimed at reducing overcrowding while improving safety and living conditions.
The facility comprises an administrative block, high-security enclosure, hospital, reception and visitors’ area, separate female block, modern kitchen and dining facilities, workshops and industrial units, as well as spaces for education and rehabilitation such as a school, library, multipurpose hall and legal aid clinic.
A key highlight is the Swastik Model High Security Barrack, designed to enhance surveillance and strengthen inmate management.
The complex is equipped with watchtowers, advanced surveillance systems, secure perimeter walls and residential quarters for staff.
The government has sanctioned 58 posts for the jail, taking the total staff strength to 66.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons & Correctional Services, Telangana, ensuring timely completion, adherence to modern correctional standards, and operational readiness of the facility.
Officials said the new facility reflects the government’s focus on building a modern, secure and reform-oriented correctional system with emphasis on rehabilitation and humane management of inmates.
Several ministers, including Damodar Rajanarsimha, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Gaddam Vivek Venkata Swamy and Tummala Nageswara Rao, as well as senior officials including Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Finance Secretary, and K. Hymavathi, Collector and District Magistrate of Siddipet, were present on the occasion.
