Hyderabad, Mar 9 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, on Monday directed officials to prepare plans for developing sports infrastructure in the state with a long-term vision of hosting the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games.
Chairing a review meeting on sports infrastructure, Revanth Reddy asked officials to assess the maintenance of existing stadiums and prepare proposals to upgrade key facilities.
He directed authorities to upgrade Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy Stadium, Lal Bahadur Stadium and Saroor Nagar Stadium to meet future requirements for training camps and hosting sports events.
The CM also reviewed the proposal to establish the Young India Sports University with modern infrastructure, including sports grounds and training facilities aimed at producing athletes capable of winning medals at international competitions.
He suggested renovating the Gachibowli Outdoor Stadium and developing additional indoor stadiums, university complexes, hostels and various sports facilities required for training athletes.
State ministers Vakiti Srihari and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Chief Minister’s adviser Vem Narender Reddy, Sports Authority of Telangana chairman Shiv Sena Reddy and senior officials attended the meeting.
