Telangana BJP leaders burns Rahul Gandhi Effigy, Accuses Congress of Disrespecting Parliamentary Protocol

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (TNT):  Condemning Rahul Gandhi’s alleged violation of parliamentary rules and accusing Congress MPs of insulting democracy, Telangana BJP leaders, led by state president N. Ramchander Rao, burnt an effigy of the Congress leader in front of the party’s state office here on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Ramchander Rao criticised Congress leaders for sitting on the steps of the Parliament, drinking tea, and treating the premises “like a picnic spot,” despite clear rules prohibiting gatherings at the entrance.

He said such conduct is “extremely unfortunate” and undermines the sanctity of Parliament, which he described as “a temple of democracy.”

“The Parliament is a highly respected platform where public issues should be debated and citizens’ concerns presented to the government,” he said. “Turning it into a playground for jokes and casual behaviour is an affront to the democratic system.”

He accused Rahul Gandhi of avoiding debates inside the House while flouting rules outside, claiming that for him, “Parliament has become a picnic spot,” and called the behaviour “a disgrace to the temple of democracy.”

Ramchander Rao also attacked Congress for spreading alleged misinformation about LPG shortages, pointing out that despite official assurances of sufficient fuel stocks, suspended MPs were seen drinking tea and eating biscuits on Parliament premises, violating protocol.

He contrasted the current Congress leadership with past leaders like former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, who had acted beyond political considerations in sending Atal Bihari Vajpayee to UN meetings in the national interest, saying Congress has now “completely abandoned those values.”

The BJP leader concluded that the effigy burning was a protest against Congress’s alleged disrespect towards India’s democratic institutions.
