Hyderabad, Feb 12 (TNT): The Telangana government has appointed senior IAS officer Jyoti Buddha Prakash as the full-time Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
Prakash, a 2002-batch IAS officer, earlier served as Secretary in the SC Development Department and also held charge of the Planning Department.
The CMD post had been vacant for nearly two months following the completion of the deputation tenure of N Balaram. During the interim period, D Krishna Bhaskar, CMD of Telangana Transco, was holding additional charge.
Orders appointing Prakash were issued on Wednesday evening.
The decision to appoint a full-fledged CMD comes amid pending key decisions on major projects, including green energy initiatives, thermal power expansion and the Naini coal blocks. The Naini project recently sparked controversy following the cancellation of tenders last month by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is expected to convene a review meeting with SCCL officials to take stock of the company’s operations and future plans.
