Hyderabad, Apr 7 (TNT): The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau on Tuesday caught an Associate Dean of Agronomy at Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University here while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh from a complainant for issuing a seed licence.
The accused, Dr M. Goverdhan, Associate Dean at the College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, was caught by ACB City Range-II officials when he demanded and accepted the additional bribe amount, the ACB said in a release.
Officials said he had earlier allegedly taken ₹25,000 from the complainant to facilitate issuance of the licence and ensure there were no hurdles from Agriculture Department officials in the complainant’s business.
The tainted amount of ₹1 lakh was recovered from the accused.
He has been arrested and will be produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand.
The case is under investigation, the release added.
