Tirupati, March 15 (TNT): The Pushpayagam Mahotsavam was held in a grand manner on Sunday at the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram.
On this occasion, Vedic rituals were performed in the Yagasala from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Later, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed to the Utsava deities of Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy along with Sridevi and Bhudevi.
The sacred abhishekam was carried out with milk, curd, honey, coconut water, turmeric, and sandalwood.
From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Pushpayagam was conducted in a visually delightful manner.
The ritual was performed using 12 varieties of flowers and 6 types of sacred leaves.
The flowers included chrysanthemum, roses, oleander, champak, jasmine, rukshi, kanakambaram, lotus, water lily, mogali flowers and manu sampangi. Leaves such as tulasi, davanam, maruvam, bilvam and panneeru leaves were also used.
A total of four tonnes of flowers were donated by devotees for the Pushpayagam. These flowers were received as offerings from the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Among those who participated in the programme were Temple Special Grade Deputy EO Ms. Varalakshmi, Garden Superintendent, Srinivasulu, Garden Manager Janardhan Reddy, Superintendent, Rajkumar, Temple Archaka Balaji Rangacharyulu and Temple Inspectors Munikumar and Dhanasekhar.
