Spiritual surge at Kolkata Book Fair: Yogoda Satsanga Stall Draws Crowds, Inspires Youth

Kolkata, Feb 3 (TNT):The 12-day Kolkata International Book Fair concluded here on Tuesday on a spiritually uplifting note as the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (YSS) book stall emerged as a major centre of attraction for devotees, especially youth.

The Stall No.264 witnessed steady footfall throughout the 12-day fair, reflecting growing interest in the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda and the practice of Kriya Yoga, the Society said in a release.

On the final day, the stall’s closing ceremony was marked by prayer, meditation, and a brief spiritual discourse conducted by Swami Achyutananda and Swami Shreyananda, followed by distribution of prasad to devotees.

Visitors showed keen interest in Yogananda’s spiritual literature, with many seeking guidance on Kriya Yoga and its role in self-realisation.

Queries were addressed by the stall in-charge and monks from the YSS ashram.

Among the publications, Autobiography of a Yogi remained the most sought-after title, followed by the newly released Solving the Mystery of Life.

Other works such as God Talks with Arjuna, The Second Coming of Christ, Man’s Eternal Quest, The Divine Romance, and Journey to Self-Realization also saw strong demand, often purchased as gifts.

Notably, Autobiography of a Yogi has been translated into over 50 languages worldwide, including Urdu, underscoring its enduring global appeal.

Overall, the YSS stall played a prominent role at the fair, highlighting the growing enthusiasm for Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings, particularly among the younger generation.
