Hyderabad, Feb 2 (TNT): In a move aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving pedestrian safety, authorities on Monday proposed a skywalk along the busy Raidurgam–T-Hub stretch in the Cyberabad IT corridor.
Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Dr. M. Ramesh, along with senior traffic and police officials, inspected the proposed alignment from Raidurgam Metro Station via the IKEA flyover and IOCL junction up to T-Hub here.
Officials identified key pedestrian conflict zones and traffic choke points, noting that heavy footfall across carriageways is a major cause of slow vehicular movement in the corridor.
The proposed skywalk is expected to segregate pedestrian and vehicular traffic, leading to smoother traffic flow and an estimated 30 per cent reduction in congestion.
Phase I of the project includes a 500-metre-long skywalk, with plans also underway for a 400-metre underpass between T-Hub and Mindspace C-Gate to improve last-mile connectivity.
The project will be developed with the support of SCSC and private stakeholders and is proposed to be implemented in PPP mode, with periodic reviews involving GHMC, TGIIC, and IALA.
