Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Mar 9 (TNT): Saint-Gobain India Pvt. Ltd. – Gyproc business, on Monday said it has commissioned India’s first near-net-zero gypsum ceiling tiles manufacturing plant in Visakhapatnam, strengthening its capacity to serve the growing demand for sustainable ceiling solutions in the country.
Commissioned in December 2025, the facility has an annual production capacity of about five million square metres and will manufacture Gyprex PVC laminated gypsum ceiling tiles for commercial and institutional applications, the company said in a release here.
The company said the plant supports domestic manufacturing and aligns with the government’s Make in India initiative while expanding its presence in the Indian construction materials market.
“This investment strengthens our manufacturing footprint in India and enables us to scale low-carbon ceiling solutions closer to key markets,” said Sudeep Kolte, Managing Director of Saint-Gobain Gyproc India.
He said the Visakhapatnam plant reflects the company’s strategy of integrating sustainable manufacturing with operational efficiency to meet the evolving needs of commercial and institutional segments.
The facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing systems, including a modern dust-collection mechanism, and follows global production standards. Products manufactured at the plant comply with BS EN 520 and BS EN 14190 standards, ensuring durability and performance.
The near-net-zero facility is aligned with Saint-Gobain’s global sustainability roadmap aimed at achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The company said the investment would help strengthen local manufacturing while delivering sustainable construction solutions for India’s expanding infrastructure and real estate sectors.
