Srikalahasti (Andhra Pradesh), Feb 5 (TNT) : The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) seized six red sanders logs and arrested two smugglers who were illegally transporting the contraband in a car on the Srikalahasti–Pichatur road on Thursday.
The task force team led by ARSI Eshwar Reddy, along with Forest Range Officer P. Subhash, reached the KVBPuram mandal area and conducted vehicle checks at the Marappareddy Kandriga check post in coordination with local FBO M. Suresh Kumar.
During the checking, a car approaching at high speed stopped abruptly after noticing the task force personnel.
Two occupants attempted to flee but were chased and apprehended by the officers.
On inspection, six red sanders logs were found concealed inside the vehicle.
Upon interrogation, the arrested were identified as residents of Tirupati district.
They were taken along with the seized car to the Tirupati RSASTF Police Station for further action.
A case has been registered by CI Khader Basha, and further investigation is underway.
