Revanth Reddy Briefs PM on Fuel, LPG Supply; Telangana Sets Up Monitoring Committees

Hyderabad, Mar 27 (TNT) : Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Friday briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the measures taken by the state to ensure uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel and LPG amid the evolving West Asia situation.

Participating in a video conference convened by the Prime Minister, Revanth Reddy said the state government has constituted a high-level committee headed by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to continuously monitor fuel and gas supply.

He said committees with nodal officers have also been set up across all 33 districts to oversee distribution of petrol, diesel and LPG and to curb black marketing.

The CM informed that the situation is being monitored from the Command Control Centre in Hyderabad, with officials tracking stock levels at fuel stations and daily consumption patterns.

He said Telangana’s average daily consumption of petrol and diesel stands at 36,189 kilolitres, while the state currently has reserves of 188,210 kilolitres.

He also highlighted special measures taken to prioritise supply of commercial LPG cylinders to hospitals, schools, orphanages and old-age homes.

Stressing the need to prevent panic, the CM said legal action is being initiated against individuals spreading misinformation on social media regarding fuel shortages.

Emphasising long-term measures, he said the state is promoting electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, including 100 per cent exemption on road tax and registration fees for EVs.

The Chief Minister also informed that efforts are underway to promote EV manufacturing and battery ecosystem, including conversion of over 1.20 lakh auto-rickshaws into EVs and procurement of electric buses for TGSRTC.

Senior officials, including Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and Principal Secretary V. Seshadri, were present during the meeting.
