Revamp College Curriculum, Improve University Rankings: AP CM Naidu

Amaravati, Apr 7 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday called for restructuring the college curriculum to align with present-day needs and improve the overall quality of higher education in the state.

Reviewing the performance of various departments at the Secretariat, Naidu said the education system must be strengthened with the introduction of demand-driven courses and updated curricula alongside traditional programmes.

The Chief Minister stressed that universities, including Andhra University (AU), should focus on improving national rankings and directed the Higher Education Council and Education Department to play a proactive role.

He said there should be zero complaints regarding the mid-day meal scheme and called upon the Sports Authority to promote health awareness through activities such as 5K runs.

On road safety, Naidu emphasised preventive measures and public awareness, particularly on helmet usage and adherence to traffic rules, rather than relying solely on enforcement.

Addressing lightning-related incidents, he directed officials to use technology-based alerts and activate field-level staff to warn people in advance through location-specific notifications.

Reviewing housing programmes, the Chief Minister instructed officials to expedite construction and distribution of houses and house sites.

He said, in addition to TIDCO housing, five lakh houses should be completed and handed over to beneficiaries at the earliest.

He also directed strict monitoring to ensure that sand provided free of cost is not misused through additional charges at stockyards.

Later, the Chief Minister launched the “Aware 2.0” mobile application developed by RTGS to enhance governance and public service delivery.

Senior officials from various departments attended the meeting.
