Rejuvenation of Lakes Key to Hyderabad’s Future Development: Telangana CM

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (TNT):  Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday said the restoration of lakes, tanks and ponds is crucial for the sustainable development of Hyderabad and to protect the city from future flood threats.

Inaugurating the rejuvenated ‘Nalla Cheruvu’ at Kukatpally in the city, Reddy said the government is committed to reviving all water bodies in the ‘CURE region’ by removing encroachments and improving drainage and road infrastructure.

Reddy said the objective of restoring lakes and tanks is to strengthen the city’s natural water systems and prevent flooding in the future.

He added that the government is also working towards restoring the ‘Musi River’ and conserving other water bodies across the city.

The Chief Minister said the government would also develop ‘women’s vending stalls and children’s play areas’ at the rejuvenated lakes to create public spaces for local communities.

Stating that city development sometimes requires difficult decisions, Reddy said the government would ensure justice to those affected during the removal of encroachments near lakes and nalas.

He appealed to citizens to support development initiatives and said the government is ready to provide adequate funds for infrastructure and urban improvement projects across the city.

The Chief Minister also announced that development funds would be allocated to all Assembly constituencies under the ‘Malkajgiri ‘ parliamentary constituency irrespective of political considerations.
