Rajya Sabha nod to Amaravati Bill a ‘joyful moment’: AP Dy CM Pawan Kalyan

Amaravati, Apr 2 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party Chief  Pawan Kalyan on Thursday termed the Rajya Sabha’s approval of the Bill granting legal status to Amaravati as the State capital a “welcome development” and a “joyful moment” for the people.

In a statement, Pawan Kayan  said that with both Houses of Parliament clearing the legislation, Amaravati would now stand “firm and invincible” as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Kalyan thanked all political parties and Rajya Sabha members who supported the Bill, and urged people to move beyond “unnecessary misconceptions”.

He also criticised those opposing the capital move, saying their remarks reflected that they did not wish the State to have a capital city.

The Deputy Chief Minister said development works in Amaravati had already gained momentum and that the coalition government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, was committed to building a capital that every citizen could take pride in.

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for their support in facilitating the passage of the Bill and backing the development of Amaravati.

Calling for celebrations, Kalyan urged leaders and cadre of the Jana Sena Party to participate in events being organised across the State.

As a mark of gratitude, he appealed to people to light lamps at their homes and party offices in honour of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.
