Amaravati, Mar 11 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minisster N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday asked district collectors to promote the ‘Swayam brand’, created for products made by women self-help groups under DWCRA, on the lines of the ‘Amul’ model.
Addressing the two-day district collectors’ conference at the State Secretariat here, Naidu said products made by ‘DWCRA and MEPMA women self-help groups’ should be marketed through a cooperative system similar to Amul, ensuring wider reach and better returns to women producers.
The CM said the Swayam products must meet ‘global quality standards’ and should have proper ‘traceability and certification’ to access international markets.
With 28 districts in the state, he suggested developing 28 district-level brands to encourage healthy competition while maintaining quality.
The Chief Minister also stressed the need to ‘improve digital literacy’ among government employees and the public.
He directed officials to establish ‘district-level RTGS centres’ to monitor the performance of government staff and said computer literacy should be mandatory for government jobs.
Calling for greater use of technology, Naidu said ‘agritech, AI agronomy and digital tools’ should be promoted among farmers through the ‘‘Raithanna Meekosam’ programme’, aimed at increasing awareness about modern farming practices.
He also emphasised development of ‘logistics parks, industrial townships near ports and airports, and heliports in each district’, while urging officials to encourage sanitation initiatives and ensure strong participation in ‘Swachh Survekshan rankings’.
Ministers, senior officials and district collectors attended the meeting.
