PM Modi to inaugurate rail projects in Gujarat on March 31

Gujarat, Mar 30 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will  inaugurate multiple infrastructure projects, including key railway initiatives aimed at improving connectivity and boosting regional development, here on Tuesday.

In the rail sector, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the Kanalus–Jamnagar doubling project (28 km), part of the larger Rajkot–Kanalus doubling project, and the quadrupling of the Gandhidham–Adipur section (10.69 km).

The projects are expected to enhance line capacity, reduce congestion on busy routes and improve operational efficiency, facilitating faster and more frequent train services, an official release said here.

The doubling of the Kanalus–Jamnagar section is set to benefit major industrial and commercial centres such as Jamnagar and Rajkot by improving freight movement and passenger connectivity.

It is also expected to support agro-based industries by enabling quicker transport of agricultural produce.

The Gandhidham–Adipur quadrupling project will strengthen connectivity in the Kutch region by easing congestion on freight-heavy routes, improving turnaround time for goods trains and supporting port-led development.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Himmatnagar–Khedbrahma gauge conversion project (54.83 km), which will enhance connectivity in tribal and semi-urban areas of northern Gujarat by linking them to the broader rail network.

Additionally, he will flag off a new train service between Khedbrahma, Himmatnagar and Asarwa, providing direct connectivity to Ahmedabad and improving access to employment, education and healthcare.

Officials said the projects are expected to reduce travel time, improve reliability, boost trade and commerce, and contribute to inclusive growth across the state.
