No Power Tariff Hike; True-Down Benefits to Reach Consumers: AP CM

Amaravati, Feb 9 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asserted that there would be no power tariff hike in Andhra Pradesh and assured that true-down charge benefits would be passed on directly to consumers.

Addressing a conference of ministers and secretaries at the Secretariat here, Naidu said the State is moving from a power-deficit to a power-surplus phase and directed officials to pursue net-zero power generation by accelerating solar rooftop, wind and pumped storage projects.

Efforts are on to bring down the power purchase price to ₹3.90 per unit, he said.

Naidu instructed departments to ensure better market support and prices for agricultural produce, with a focus on crops having global demand.

To develop Rayalaseema as a horticulture hub, he called for greater private investment along with Central funds, setting a target to raise output from 22 million metric tonnes to 40 million metric tonnes.

On infrastructure, the CM said a four-lane railway line from Ichchapuram to Nellore is under development and a speed train project will materialise soon.

He announced that 1,000 buses of the APSRTC would be converted to electric vehicles, and noted the recent distribution of 5,000 e-cycles in Kuppam.

Flagging ease-of-doing-business concerns, Naidu said excessive permissions for small enterprises must be eliminated and rules simplified across key departments.

He also directed officials to ensure uninterrupted sand and gravel supply for construction in Amaravati.

The CM emphasised WhatsApp Governance for accessible public services, stronger branding of SHG products under ‘Swayam’, and branding for cocoa on the lines of Araku Coffee.

From Ugadi, schools will roll out plans to enhance green cover using indigenous species, he said.

Highlighting revenue performance, Naidu said the Registration Department recorded ₹9,103 crore with 27% growth, and urged faster utilisation of Central scheme funds.

He asked Collectors to expedite KYC for unclaimed PD accounts and said the State could receive ₹26,021 crore next year under Centrally Sponsored Schemes, calling for speedy fund releases under SASCI.
