Hyderabad, Mar 25 (TNT):The Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association on Wednesday clarified that there is ‘ no shortage of fuel ‘ in the state and urged the public not to resort to panic buying based on misleading reports.
In a press note, the association said circulation of false news about fuel scarcity has led to a sudden surge in sales, nearly 2.5 to 3 times the normal levels, causing temporary stock depletion at some retail outlets.
It assured that adequate fuel stocks are available with oil marketing companies, including HPCL, IOCL and BPCL, and that supply chains are functioning normally.
The association also issued a safety advisory, warning that storing petrol or diesel in cans is against PESO norms and poses serious risks, including fire hazards.
It appealed to citizens to act responsibly by avoiding panic purchases, not storing fuel in unauthorised containers and buying fuel only as per regular requirements.
The association further urged the public not to believe or spread fake news and to ensure safety by following prescribed norms.
