NDC Officers Visit Telangana to Study Economic Security, Governance

Hyderabad, Mar 17 (TNT): A batch of officers from the National Defence College is on a five-day visit to Telangana as part of a study on economic security and governance, officials said on Tuesday.

The delegation visited the state Secretariat, where senior officials briefed them on Telangana’s progress in economic and social sectors since its formation in 2014.

Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao outlined the state’s growth trajectory, highlighting strong expansion in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income driven by public and private investments.

He said Telangana has emerged as one of the fastest-growing states and has set a target of becoming a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Navin Mittal said the state ranks first in per capita energy consumption and has significantly expanded its renewable energy capacity, now surpassing conventional sources.

He added that the government is focusing on advanced solutions such as pumped storage and battery storage systems to ensure sustainable power supply.

Principal Secretary (Education) Yogita Rana briefed the delegation on initiatives in the education sector, including the establishment of residential schools across 105 constituencies and efforts to promote skill development through collaborations with Tata Technologies.

Secretary (Planning) Gaurav Uppal said the state recorded a growth rate of 10.7 per cent in the previous year, higher than the national average, and attracted investments worth ₹5.75 lakh crore during a recent summit.

He also highlighted the expansion of the IT sector, supported by initiatives such as T-Hub, WE Hub and T-Works.

He added that projects such as the proposed Bharat Future City, a 30,000-acre greenfield smart city, and the development of the Musi riverfront are aimed at boosting urban infrastructure and sustainability.

The delegation, led by Joint Secretary Anvita Sinha, later held interactive sessions with officials and appreciated the state’s development initiatives.
