Modi, Sri Lankan President Discuss Energy Security, Regional Cooperation

New Delhi, Mar 24 (TNT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Disanayaka over phone and discussed the evolving situation in West Asia, with particular focus on global energy security.

Both leaders expressed concern over disruptions affecting energy supplies and underscored the importance of keeping international shipping routes open and secure in the interest of global trade.

They also reviewed progress on ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening India-Sri Lanka cooperation in the energy sector and enhancing regional security.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s firm commitment to work closely with Sri Lanka in addressing shared challenges, in line with the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and MAHASAGAR Vision.
