Hyderabad, Feb 27 (TNT): Telangana on Friday became the first State in the country to issue bus passes entirely through a government mobile application, following the integration of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) into the MeeSeva-powered MeeTicket digital platform.
The initiative, backed by IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, enables commuters to apply for, pay for and receive city bus passes and inter-city tickets through a single app, eliminating the need to visit physical depots or service counters.
Officials said the MeeTicket platform, launched under the State’s MeeSeva e-governance framework, has already recorded over two lakh downloads and transactions worth ₹2.9 crore.
No additional booking charges are levied beyond the fare or pass fee prescribed by TGSRTC.
Each digital pass carries a dynamic QR code that refreshes with every use, along with a live validity indicator and screenshot-blocking feature to prevent duplication.
Conductors can verify passes instantly onboard, reducing manual checks and operational delays.
Renewals can also be completed within the app, easing congestion at depots and service centres across the State.
At present, five pass categories — Ordinary, Metro Deluxe, Metro Express, Green Metro Luxury and Pushpak AC — are available on the platform.
Concessional passes for students and senior citizens are expected to be introduced in a subsequent phase in accordance with TGSRTC norms.
T. Ravi Kiran, Commissioner, Electronic Services Delivery, Government of Telangana, said the initiative aims to create a seamless, citizen-centric mobility system with enhanced transparency and accessibility.
The integration of TGSRTC into MeeTicket marks a significant expansion of MeeSeva’s digital service portfolio, positioning Telangana at the forefront of technology-driven public service delivery and digital governance in India.
