Maha Ashtami Symbolises Worship of Divine Energy: Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla

Hyderabad, Mar 26 (TNT): Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Thursday said that Chaitra Navaratri Maha Ashtami represents the worship of divine energy and inspires people to overcome ignorance, ego and negative tendencies through devotion.

The Chaitra Navaratri Maha Ashtami Phalahara celebrations were organised for the first time in the state under the aegis of Lok Bhavan at the Sanskriti Community Hall, where the event was held with religious fervour.

The Governor, along with First Lady Janaki Shukla, inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Addressing the gathering, he said he had been participating in such celebrations for over 35 years and expressed happiness at organising the event after assuming office as Governor, while hoping that the tradition would continue in the state.

Highlighting the significance of the occasion, he said Maha Ashtami symbolises the worship of Goddess Durga, the embodiment of divine energy, and called upon devotees to strive for inner purification.

He said Phalahara Deeksha is not merely a dietary practice but a spiritual discipline aimed at purifying the mind, body and soul, while fostering restraint, patience and self-confidence.

The Governor also appealed to people to promote peace and social harmony, stressing the importance of mutual respect and cooperation for the progress of the state.

He prayed that the blessings of Goddess Durga bring health, happiness and prosperity to all.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, MP Raghunandan Rao, former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao, MLC Malka Komuraiah, MLA Addanki Dayakar, Special Chief Secretary to Governor M. Dana Kishore, Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat, District Collector Hari Chandana and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
