Parigi (Vikarabad Dist.), Feb 7 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday launched a sharp political attack on former chief minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), alleging that the “history of fake passports, counterfeit currency cases and false promises” associated with KCR would remain etched in the annals of Telangana forever.
Addressing a public meeting here, Revanth said it was his responsibility to ensure that what he termed the “Papala Bhairavudu” legacy of KCR was not erased.
He asserted that no one could wipe out the alleged “10 years of loot” during the BRS rule and dismissed BRS claims that serving notices to KCR in the phone-tapping case amounted to erasing his contributions.
Reacting to statements by BRS leaders K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, the CM questioned why issuing notices in a phone-tapping probe was being portrayed as political vendetta.
He cited remarks by former IPS officer R.S. Praveen Kumar regarding a fake currency case to argue that controversies linked to the former CM could not be erased from public memory.
He also accused KCR of betraying Dalits by failing to keep his promise of making a Dalit leader the first Chief Minister of Telangana, while claiming that the Congress had instead empowered Dalits by appointing them as Speaker and ministers.
The Chief Minister alleged that BRS was deliberately obstructing development by spreading misinformation and said his government was correcting the “grave errors” of the previous regime, including addressing the mounting debt burden.
He also trained his guns on the BJP ahead of the municipal elections, warning voters that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not address local civic issues if the saffron party was voted to power in urban local bodies.
He alleged a “secret poll pact” between the BJP and BRS, claiming that BJP candidates were receiving B-forms from BRS offices. If both parties had truly developed the state and provided adequate funds, he asked, why were they canvassing door to door?
On irrigation, the CM accused KCR of deliberately shelving the Pranahita–Chevella project, sanctioned in the undivided state, thereby worsening the plight of drought-hit Rangareddy district.
He said that even the foundation stone laid near Chevella stood as evidence of the abandoned project, adding that providing just 3 TMC of Godavari water could have irrigated thousands of acres.
Mocking KCR’s earlier promise of turning Rayalaseema into “Ratanala Seema,” Revanth said the former CM never spoke about supplying Godavari water to Rangareddy.
He alleged that the ₹1 lakh crore Kaleshwaram project collapsed within three years and accused the KCR family of constructing palatial farmhouses using project funds.
The Chief Minister assured that land acquisition for the Lakshmi Devi Palli reservoir would be completed soon and reiterated his government’s commitment to bringing Godavari water to Parigi, Tandur and Vikarabad.
He also promised diversion of Krishna waters to Makthal, Narayanpet and Kodangal constituencies to irrigate 1.5 lakh acres.
Highlighting governance initiatives, Revanth cited issuance of ration cards, supply of fine-quality rice, farm loan waivers, free bus travel for women, 200 units of free electricity for the poor, and filling of 70,000 government vacancies.
He concluded by asserting that the “Indiramma Rajyam” would continue in Telangana for the next eight years.
