Kavitha to Launch New Party on April 25, Eyes Telangana-Centric Politics

Hyderabad, Mar 27 (TNT): In a significant political development, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, President of Telangana Jagruthi, on Friday announced that her organisation will formally enter electoral politics with the launch of a new party on  April 25.

The announcement, made at a press conference in Nizamabad after participating in Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy kalyanotsavam, signals a potential shift in Telangana’s political landscape, particularly amid growing debates over governance, farmer distress, and regional priorities.

Kavitha, the fromer BRS MP, said the party’s name, flag and agenda would be unveiled at a large public meeting scheduled to be held in Medchal on the day, positioning the outfit as a “people’s party” rooted in Telangana’s socio-political aspirations.

Framing the move as a response to perceived gaps in governance, she criticised existing political parties for failing to adequately address key public concerns, including agricultural distress, unemployment, infrastructure deficiencies and safety issues.

She argued that despite over a decade of statehood, Telangana has not fully achieved its goals in areas such as water, funds and employment.

“The need of the hour is a political platform that consistently fights on behalf of the people,” she said, underlining that the proposed party would focus almost entirely on Telangana-specific issues, with minimal emphasis on national politics.

In a clear political positioning, Kavitha, the daughter of BRS Chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR),  asserted that the new party would remain independent and would not align with any major political force.

Rejecting the possibility of being seen as a proxy or “B-team,” she maintained that the party aims to emerge as a principal political force in the state.

She also sought to broaden the party’s social base, calling on farmers, women, youth, backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and minorities to participate in the launch and contribute to shaping its agenda.

The party, she said, would advocate inclusive development under the vision of “Sarvodaya Telangana.”

Political observers view the move as an attempt to carve out an alternative regional narrative and consolidate sections of the electorate that may be disillusioned with both ruling and opposition parties.

The launch is expected to provide greater clarity on the party’s ideological direction, leadership structure and electoral strategy ahead of future contests.
