Kakinada, Feb 10 (TNT): Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) Prof. CSRK Prasad on Tuesday emphasised the importance of ethical practices in the use of emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Addressing a workshop titled “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence”, organised under the Information Security Education and Awareness (ISEA) Project Phase–III at the university’s alumni auditorium here, the Vice-Chancellor said responsible application of AI was essential for nation-building.
He urged students to adopt safe and ethical technology practices to contribute positively to society.
Senior Professor from the CSE wing Dr. K. V. Ramana said the primary objective of the ISEA project was to create awareness among students on cyber safety, data privacy, and ethical values in AI usage.
Noting that the second Tuesday of February is observed as Internet Safety Day every year, he said the workshop would help students navigate the challenges of the digital age responsibly.
Prof. A. S. N. Chakravarty highlighted that data privacy, cybersecurity, and ethical conduct were critical aspects of AI usage.
He advised students to develop safe digital habits and the ability to identify cyber threats, adding that society stands to benefit greatly from the responsible deployment of AI.
Rector Prof. P. Subbarao and Officer on Special Duty Prof. D. Koteswara Rao also stressed that ethical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence is vital in the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.
