Hyderabad, Mar 15 (TNT): Telangana State BJP President N. Ramchander Rao on Sunday said India’s strength lies in its unity among diverse religious communities and emphasised the need to uphold communal harmony to ensure national progress.
Addressing an Iftar party organised by the Telangana BJP Minority Morcha here, he said India’s “Ganga-Jamuni” culture reflects the spirit of coexistence where people of different religions and traditions live together with mutual respect.
He said that in many parts of the world conflicts and tensions are increasing, but India continues to maintain an atmosphere of peace and stability.
Ramchander Rao said the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been moving forward with the principle of inclusive development.
Referring to Modi’s slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas”, he said the government is committed to taking all communities along in the nation’s development.
He said people of every religion should have the freedom to practise their faith without interference.
“Those who believe in Allah should be free to offer prayers in their own way, while those who believe in Lord Ram should be free to worship Him. Followers of other faiths too must be free to follow their traditions,” he said.
Stressing national unity, Ramchander Rao said regardless of religion or region, the identity of every citizen is first and foremost that of an Indian.
He said the gathering during the holy month of Ramzan reflected the spirit of unity and brotherhood that defines India’s social fabric.
He expressed hope that the blessings of the festival would bring peace, prosperity and progress to the country.
