Hyderabad, Mar 17 (TNT): The Department of Posts on Tuesday launched three new time-bound postal services offering guaranteed 24-hour and 48-hour delivery across six metro cities, including Hyderabad.
Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with Minister of State Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, unveiled the ‘24 Speed Post’, ‘24 Speed Post Parcel’ and ‘48 Speed Post’ services from New Delhi.
The services have been introduced in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
A launch event was also held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s College auditorium in King Koti here.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Veena Kumari Dermal, Chief Postmaster General, Telangana Circle, said the initiative marks a significant step in modernising postal services and aligning them with evolving market needs.
In Hyderabad, 38 booking offices and 94 delivery offices will handle ‘24 Speed Post’ and ‘24 Speed Post Parcel’, while 176 booking offices and 94 delivery offices will manage ‘48 Speed Post’. All consignments under these services will be accorded priority handling, she said.
‘24 Speed Post’ ensures next-day delivery of documents, while ‘24 Speed Post Parcel’ guarantees next-day delivery for parcels up to 5 kg.
The ‘48 Speed Post’ service assures delivery of documents within 48 hours.
A refund will be provided in case of delays, subject to conditions, she said.
Additional features include specialised packaging, end-to-end tracking with SMS alerts, ‘Book Now, Pay Later’ facility, free pickup services for business customers, OTP-based secure delivery and API integration, she added.
