Hyderabad to host ICCA Global Summit 2027; first time in India in 64-year history

Hyderabad, Feb 16 (TNT): Hyderabad will host the ICCA Global Summit 2027, the biennial global forum of the International Corrugated Case Association (ICCA), in January 2027, marking the first time in the association’s 64-year history that the summit will be held in India.

The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) by ICCA Chairman ML Agarwal, India Director on the ICCA Board Ankit Agarwal, ICCA President and CEO Eleni Despotou, and Prasad Pendyala, Technical Chairman for the summit.

The event coincides with India assuming the ICCA Chair and is being seen as a milestone for Telangana and the country’s expanding corrugated packaging sector.

A curtain-raiser event for the summit will be held in Hyderabad on February 18, 2026. Telangana IT Minister Sridhar Babu and IT Secretary Sanjay Kumar are expected to attend.

Founded in 1961 and headquartered in the United States, ICCA is the global apex body representing the corrugated packaging industry, promoting sustainable and recyclable packaging solutions worldwide.

Hyderabad will host three major industry events in January 2027. Along with the ICCA Global Summit, the city will also stage the FCBM CorruPack Summit 2027 — the flagship annual conference of the Federation of Corrugated Box Manufacturers of India (FCBM) — and the CorruPack International Expo 2027.

The expo is expected to feature more than 250 exhibitors, over 1,500 delegates and around 300 international industry leaders, serving as a global B2B platform for technology transfer and investment.

Industry leaders said India’s corrugated packaging sector, valued at approximately ₹55,000 crore, is among the fastest-growing globally. The domestic market, currently valued at USD 7.8 billion, is projected to reach USD 18.6 billion by 2033, driven by growth in e-commerce, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, electronics and organised retail.

The global corrugated packaging market, valued at USD 170.96 billion in 2024, is projected to reach USD 179.5 billion in 2025, growing at a CAGR of 5.1 per cent through 2030.

Officials said hosting the ICCA Global Summit 2027 would further strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a global hub for sustainable packaging innovation and international industrial collaboration.
