Hyderabad, Mar 12(TNT): The Commissioner’s Task Force, Secunderabad Zone, in coordination with Chilkalguda Police, on Wednesday apprehended three Ganja peddlers and four consumers during a special operation at Chilkalguda in the city.
The accused—Subhash Mishal, Pabitra Bira, and Bapun Bidika—were intercepted opposite Railway Quarter , Chilkalguda, while allegedly in possession of 11.530 kilograms of Ganja, two grams of loose Ganja, and three mobile phones used for trafficking., police said in a release here on Thursday.
The total estimated value of the seized contraband is around Rs. 4.38 lakh.
According to police, the prime accused, Mishal, a native of Rayagada District, Odisha, sourced the Ganja from a supplier, Malli, who is currently absconding, and coordinated with Bira and Bidika to transport and sell the narcotics in Hyderabad.
The operation targeted buyers near the Secunderabad Railway Station area.
The four consumers apprehended during the operation are Chimala Jethin, Aditya Kamble, K Das Vamshi Krishna, and Sankili Mahesh.
Cases have been registered under U/s 8c, r/w 20(b)(ii)(B),27(b) NDPSA at Chilkalguda Police Station.
The operation was led by Inspector J Raj Shekar, along with Inspector V. Rama Krishna, Sub-Inspector B. Mahesh, and Sub-Inspector C. Chandraiah, supported by the Secunderabad Zone Task Force and Chilkalguda Police staff.
Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City, stated that the operation successfully dismantled a major Ganja supply network in the city and prevented further illicit distribution.
